Step 1 - Purchase a New Copy of Windows
Chances are, your PC did not come with a Windows CD. Most PC manufacturers create recovery partitions on the hard drive your system came with. If your hard drive has crashed, you might be out of luck, and need to purchase a new copy.
|
Step 1 - Connect Your SR Survival Key

|
Step 2 - Install Windows
You will need to reboot and start your PC from your new Windows CD. If you recently purchased your PC, then the BIOS for your PC is probably UEFI. You will need to ensure that your Windows installation CD is booting in UEFI mode before continuing.
|
Step 2 - Restart Your PC

|
Step 3 - Install Any Windows Service Packs
After you install Windows, you may be required to download and install a Windows service pack. Sizes of service packs range from 316MB for Windows XP Service Pack 3, to 903MB for Windows 7 Service pack 1 (64bit addition).
|
Step 3 - Launch the SR One-Click Restore Process

|
Step 4 - Install Windows Updates
The Windows Update Service provides updates for the Windows Operating System, including Internet Explorer. You can expect the process of downloading and installing all of the security or critical updates, plus all the various other application updates to take at least 30 minutes to an hour.
|
Step 4 - Launch Your Cloud Recovery
Once your Survival Key restore has completed, restore your data files with your cloud backup software.

|
Step 5 - Install Hardware drivers
You will need to install hardware drivers from the CD(s) your system came with, or download them from the internet. Possible driver packages include:
Video Drivers
Drivers for Sound Cards
Printer Drivers
Wireless Drivers for Connectivity
|
Step 6 - Install All of Your Applications
If you're like most PC owners, you will have at least 10 to 15 different applications that you downloaded or purchased installed on your PC. If you didn't keep any of your installation CDs, then you will need to re-purchase, then re-install the software.
|
Step 7 - Reset Your Personal Settings
Personal Settings Includes:
Connectivity
Wallpaper
Windows Theme
Screen Resolution
|
Step 8 - Launch Your Cloud Recovery
Once your Windows system has been rebuilt, restore your data files with your cloud backup software.
